What makes a good tax advisor?

There are many tax advisors and certified public accountants but there are only a few that look after the interests of their customers the way we do. In order to find out what our customers actually expect from us, we commissioned a market research institute to conduct telephone interviews on June 2009. The renowned market researchers Brandstätter Matuschkowitz GmbH (bmm) interviewed both potential and existing clients. They obtained relevant information for our daily work. Here an overview of the most important results:

The most frequently mentioned characteristics an accountant and tax advisor should offer are: “extensive expertise” and the ability to fill in the knowledge gaps of a company. Further characteristics mentioned were customer orientation, b technical knowledge and a high information level.

Among all tax advisors, the firm Mag. Walter Gusel SteuerberatungsgmbH was mentioned the most and Managing Director Walter Gusel was often described as one of the best tax advisors. The customers refered to him as “high qualified”, “competent” and interested in having “a close and personal relationship to his customers”.

We are specially proud oft he results obtained in the interviews regarding custemer satisfaction: the satisfaction level of our clients is significantly higher as the one of clients of other tax advisor firms!
A further question focused on the most important criteria a tax advisor should meet in order to be considered a good advisor. Most oft he interviewed clients answered as follows: a tax advisor should be proactive and suggest strategies in order to save on taxes and he should furthermore posess the ability to solve conflicts. More than 80 % of the clients mentioned that good customer service and a high quality proffesional advice are also key characteristics a tax advisor should offer. Almot all clients stated that they expect their tax advisor to continuously inform them about any modifications in the tax laws and to prepare this information in a comprenhensive way so that clients can also understand the content.

These results are very encouraging and helpful for us since our firm is continiously developing new and more accurate strategies to meet the needs of our customers. Only by doing so, we can walk side by side with our customers through the road to success.
